This past weekend Team CRANK headed out to the Gorge for our annual team training camp. Awesome roads, dry weather, and great company made for a perfect weekend on the bike and a great start to the training season.

In The Dalles we stayed at the Cousin’s Country Inn. First time there for me but this place was classic. The food portions were way more than any human should eat, the staff was super friendly, there was a bottomless jar of homemade chocolate chip cookies for guests of the Inn (which were excellent post-ride) and as Nick found out the showers perfectly fit a size 54 Cervelo for a post ride bike wash.

On Saturday the team went out for 80+ mile ride including part of the Mt Hood CC time trial course, a trip up 7 mile road finishing on part of the old Cherry Blossom race course.

On a stop at a gas station to refill some water bottles the clerk asked me how long we were riding that day:
Clerk: you guys got great weather, how long you riding today?
Me: oh about 80 miles
Clerk: woah! What’s that, about a 2 or 3 day trek?
Me: ha, no it’s just a day
Clerk: Damn! That’s a long time on a bike!

On Sunday the team met up with a local friend for a quick and hard 40+ mile ride. It started out really cold but the sun came out making it great ride weather.
